What are the YWCA Women of Excellence Awards?

 

The Women of Excellence Awards publicly recognize and honor women who make

significant contributions in the St. Joseph community. The Women of Excellence Awards promote the YWCA’s emphasis on empowerment, personal growth, diversity and leadership for all women.

 

How can I support the YWCA Women of Excellence Awards?

 

Nominate —Nominate a woman or business for the Awards. 

Tribute — Make a tribute within the keepsake program booklet recognizing a nominee, or a special woman in your life. Tributes are $10 each and can be reserved with your nomination.

Attend — We are offering tables to businesses who would like to be recognized at the event. Tables are $350 and include ten place settings. Individual tickets are also available for $35 each.

 

What are the criteria for the YWCA Women of Excellence Awards?

 

Women and businesses who…

Work or volunteer in the St. Joseph area;

Demonstrate sustained excellence and creativity;

Make significant contributions in the chosen field of work or volunteerism;

Promote positive attitudes and high morale in their work or volunteerism.

 

Businesses that…

Provide a positive work environment;

Empower women to develop leadership skills and seek advancement;

Consistently promote women to positions of leadership.

 

How are the Award recipients chosen?

 

All nominees will be recognized at the nominee reception and Awards luncheon. From these nominees, a winner in each category will be chosen as the 2007 Award recipients. A young woman in her senior year of high school will also be chosen as a Future Leader and receive a college scholarship. A selection committee comprised of community members will select all award recipients.

 

What are the important dates to remember?

 

March 31—Nominations are due to the YWCA.

May 9—A reception for all nominees will be held at the YWCA from 5:00—7:00 PM.

May 26—Final date to turn in reservations and Tributes for the Awards.

June 21—The Women of Excellence Awards are held at 11:30 AM at the Civic Arena.
