Terra James is a powerhouse of community service, advocacy, and impact. While she holds multiple professional roles in the Communication Department at the University of Texas, it is her deep-rooted dedication to volunteerism that defines her most. Over the past 15 years, Terra has led, founded, or significantly contributed to dozens of community initiatives from launching the YWCA St. Joseph’s Survivor Drive and Hope Totes to chairing events like Cinderella’s Closet and the Holiday Tutu Trot, and even successfully grant writing $150,000 for Rape Counselors of East Alabama. As a passionate fundraiser, she has raised over $37,500 for St. Jude in just two years, inspiring many others to become St. Jude Heroes. A tireless advocate, Terra openly shares her experiences with mental health and sexual assault survivorship to break stigma and empower others. Her service spans Junior League, the St. Joseph Marathon board, United Way, and more. In addition to her endless advocacy and volunteerism, she recently finished her first Boston Marathon for Team St. Jude. With unyielding passion and energy, Terra models service and leadership for entire communities—near and far.
